(https://www.worldcat.org/title/mathematical-mystery-tour/oclc/15338888) :
Explores the world of pure mathematics and some of the classical problems that elude solution or proof, even after several hundred years. (Fermat's last theorem and the Goldbach conjecture are among two discussed.) Mathematicians explain that new theorems are continually reshaping mathematics, including Gödel's incompleteness theorems that showed an axiomatic system will always be incomplete and thus some statements can never be proved true or false wihout addition of more axioms. Difference of formalists and platonists is investigated. The impact of the computer is briefly examined, including the calculation of Pi to several million places.

Indigenous peoples--South America
Description
Content description from Worldcat.org
(https://www.worldcat.org/title/embera-the-end-of-the-road-disappearing-world/oclc/856056542):
At first sight, the peaceful Embera people of Colombia live what seems an idyllic life. Four centuries ago, the Spaniards went to Colombia for gold--and found that the Indians wouldn't work for them. In the clashes that followed, many Embera were massacred, and the invaders were forced to import slaves from Africa. Those former slaves, or libres, remain poor and largely without rights themselves, yet they have pushed the Embera into the remote jungle headwaters--while, as if to seal their fate, the Colombian government drives the last section of the Pan-American highway straight across the territory. The Embera tell how they want both legal rights over the land they now inhabit and protection from the physical attacks of the libres with whom they trade. This film shows them in their plight, caught between the government's bulldozers and the libres' banknotes. Part of the series Disappearing World.

Several contests are filmed, and scenes showing how the "dojo" (martial arts gym) is maintained. Also includes scenes filmed in Tokyo's sports arena Budokan during a day-long demonstration of many old martial arts forms, some quite curious. WQED joined forces with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and produced a one-hour television special which, in the opinion of the Peabody Board, has exceptional merit. Viewers were treated to a marvelous look at what goes on behind the scenes as the choreographer, the costumer, and others sought to create "Firebird." Later, there followed the story of the growth of the ballet company, a profile of some of those who made up its cast, and finally, to the premier performance itself at New York City Center. Arthur Mitchell has distinguished himself with an excellent script which provided the basis for this outstanding use of television. The Shell Companies Foundation and the Program Fund of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting contributed to the funding which made this Peabody Award-winning effort possible.

Set against a background of her paintings and the Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, landscapes they depict, this short documentary is a portrait of the life and work of one of Canada's foremost primitive painters, Maud Lewis. Emerging from her youth crippled with arthritis, Lewis escaped into her painting at the age of 30. She had never seen a work of art and had never attended an art class but her paintings captured the simple strength, beauty and happiness of the world she saw - a world without shadows.

This video clip is from a tribute to Duke Ellington that was broadcast on television in 1984. It's another discovery from the dusty crates at YouTube channel TheMotionDevotion, in this case a Betamax videocassette. Mercer Ellington, Duke's son, is conducting the orchestra which is augmented by the Boys' Choir of Harlem.
Content description from Wikipedia.org (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duke_Ellington%27s_Sacred_Concerts):
In the last decade of his life, Duke Ellington wrote three Sacred Concerts:
1965 - A Concert of Sacred Music
1968 - Second Sacred Concert
1973 - Third Sacred Concert
Ellington called these concerts "the most important thing I have ever done". He said many times that he was not trying to compose a "Mass" (liturgy). The critic Gary Giddins has characterized these concerts as Ellington bringing the Cotton Club revue to the church.
