Three newspaper clippings--In South Africa, Six Blacks Killed In Latest Violence (handwritten: 23 Aug.1985 The Sun p.1); Falwell to the Rescue (handwritten: p.4 30 Aug. 1985 The Sun); Falwell Backs President Botha (handwritten: 19 Aug 1985 The Sun p.1). Handwritten notes on folder: 19 Aug. 85 --S.Af. clergy say Botha doesn't understand reality.--New S.Af. ambassador to Wash. D.C. says no 1 man/1 vote because S. Af. Blacks have different values. Jerry Falwell backs Botha. 20 Aug. 85--Falwell calls Bishop Desmond Tutu a phony (2 clips - ea. slightly different - #1 shows mother of prisoner-sings-stay of execution. #2- 2 additional U.S. clergy criticize Falwell). 22 Aug. 85--17 Republican Senators rebuke Falwell's statement.
