Looks at Africa in the aftermath of colonial rule, as the continent seeks ways to come to terms with its diverse inheritance. Such issues as the rapid growth of modern cities like Lagos, Nigeria and Nairobi, Kenya and the problems they are facing are featured. The results of failed political institutions of the colonial rule (i.e. the parliamentary system) such as corruption and leaders like Bokassa of the Central African Republic and Idi Amin on Uganda. The issue of tribalism or the internal wars caused by the colonial borders being transferred to national borders is featured. Finally, neocolonialism is discussed and is referred to as the increase in cost of imports while the value of exports falls. Features interviews with various African statesmen, including Ex-President Alhaji Shehu Shagari of Nigeria, President Julius Nyerere of Tanzania, Chairman Jerry Rawlings of Ghana, President Samora Machel of Mozambique and Prime Minister Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe, who discuss the problems and successes of Africa today.
