Description
Content description from WorldCat (https://www.worldcat.org/title/tribute-to-georges-melies/oclc/81457756):
A video homage to one of the founding masters of fantasy and special effects in cinema. Melies, a successful magician, began investigating film as a medium of trickery in 1896. Through inventive optical effects and elaborate sets and props, he discovered how to make objects and people appear, disappear and grow larger and smaller. While best known for his fantastic tales, Melies also produced witty advertising films and re-stagings of actual events. Shown are several of Melies's original pieces and three creative responses to his legacy: Philippe Gautier's The Seven Deadly Sins, Aline Isserman's The Slap of Beate Klarsfeld and Pierre Etaix's The Artist's Dream.
Ephemera: none available.
