Description
Content description from WorldCat (https://www.worldcat.org/title/australia-an-aboriginal-view/oclc/39103719) :
This program features a filmed interview with Burnum Burnum, an Australian aborigine, historian, and author of the book entitled Burnum Burnum's Aboriginal Australia: a Traveller's Guide. During the interview, Burnum discusses the history and origins of Australia's aboriginal peoples, focusing on their cultural and linguistic diversity. During the European colonization of Australia, many aboriginal groups were devastated by dislocation, massacres, and the introduction of new diseases. Burnum argues that widespread poverty is one of the most serious problems facing contemporary Australian aborigines. He warns that aborigines must be cautious that they do not reject what remains of their cultural heritage in an attempt to improve their economic situation.
